  Flying W/end 1-2 April
Posted by: forever training - 31-03-2017, 02:07 PM - Forum: Field Conditions - No Replies

The field has been mown after this recent wet spell.
Weather for Saturday looks good with light winds from the W to WNW.
Sunday the winds will be up slightly & from the S.
I can only fly on the Saturday so will be at the field around 9.30am with planes, fuel & batteries.
Remember that on Sunday daylight saving finishes so you get an extra hour in bed.

If the conditions are OK I may attempt to get some mowing done tomorrow morning (Saturday) around 9-30 to 10-00.
Flying conditions on Sunday look good at this time.

  Weekend 18/19 March

Surprisingly the field, as of lunchtime Friday, is not under water. However it remains difficult to predict what conditions will be like for the weekend. A couple of us are tentatively considering getting on with some work on the clubhouse on Sunday if there is no flying. Club member B.U. and his very helpful lady have removed much of the daggy wallpaper in the entry and main club room, many thanks to both of them. The walls now need damaged spots Spackfilling and sanding in preparation for future painting. Any help would be appreciated.

Obviously the field will be too wet to mow this Friday. So thank you to those who volunteered to help out, but we will have to wait for conditions to improve.

Flying over the weekend is also questionable. More info later.

  Flying Weekend 11-12 March
Posted by: forever training - 10-03-2017, 03:06 PM - Forum: Field Conditions - Replies (1)

The field has been mown, the new re-sited pilot flying area with safety fence is up & running. Allan A & I gave it try out after mowing & were most impressed.
Winds for Saturday look very promising, light from the souwest, no rain forecast & temp around 24.
On Sunday the winds are from the norwest & light, rain maybe from around midday & temp 27.
Both days look excellent for flying, you would really need a good excuse if you didn't turn up for either or both days.
I'll be at the field around 9am on Sat & 9.30am Sun.
Once again don't shoot the messenger about the weather if it changes.
Charge up your batteries, check fuel & come & fly.

  Weekend 4/5 March

Rain this last couple of days has made it impossible to mow. The forecast for Saturday is for more rain & wind so flying will not be an option, Allan A & I will be at the field around 9.45 (weather permitting) to do some work on the new pilots safety fence but if we are driven inside we intend to do some work on the carpet in the clubhouse. Anyone who would like to turn up & give a hand would be most welcome.
Sunday could be a flying day but remember that the strip won't be mown so think about what aircraft you bring to cope with the grass length & if the carpark is not too boggy & can handle vehicles.

All quiet on the western front, no posts at all, does this mean we are staying in this weekend. Does this mean an empty field on Sunday? Oh well back to bed............ Huh

  Flying w/end 18/19 Feb & BBQ
Posted by: forever training - 17-02-2017, 05:48 PM - Forum: Field Conditions - No Replies

Wind conditions look good for Saturday morning but with the possibility of some rain mid morning. That being so, I'll be at the field around 9am & see if anyone turns up.
Don't forget the club BBQ on Sunday, wind also looks good with the possibility of some rain in the afternoon, so come early.
Once again don't shoot the messenger about the weather !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  BBQ Sunday 19th Feb
Posted by: forever training - 15-02-2017, 07:28 AM - Forum: Field Conditions - No Replies

At present weather conditions for Sunday are quite favourable so it has been decided to put on a BBQ lunch. The usual $5 per head applies.
This is an excellent opportunity for all club members to put down their transmitters & socialise at the clubhouse for a while until someone gets twitchy & just has to head back down the track for a fly.
Hope to see as many members (& bring families) as possible on the day.
The usual disclaimer about weather conditions negates the writer of all responsibility !!!!!!
